Taking pressure off the coral reefs!

Treasure Images had been engaged by the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM) to conduct a video and photo survey on various artificial reef sites in Sabah.
Hundreds of concrete modules called “Marinovasi” measuring approx. 8 x 8 x 8 feet have been placed by the Fisheries Authority of Malaysia over the last years to create artificial reefs. These newly created reefs provide thousands of local fishermen (using line & hook) with alternative fishing locations, while taking pressure of the natural coral reefs in the region to avoid over-fishing. Treasure Images is currently documenting the status of these reefs in terms of abundance of marinelife and general condition of the modules.
